Outpatient Teletherapy

Professional and personalized counseling for your schedule

I'm Josh Schubert, a licensed mental health counselor in Virginia and Texas, and I specialize in teletherapy, or doing counseling online through webcams, phone calls, or messaging.

Sessions are done through Zoom.us which is HIPAA compliant, meaning 100% secure. You will be surprised at how you will be fully immersed in the session and get similar benefits as an in-person session, but without the hassle of a commute. I can provide counseling to people residing in Virginia, Texas, or outside the US. Counseling is compliant with the Virginia and Texas State Licensing Board. Teletherapy might not be appropriate for all people.

I am seeing people in person in the Richmond, VA area. My office is with Thriveworks at: 5310 Markel Rd #102, Richmond, VA 23230 (804)554-0356 https://thriveworks.com/richmond-therapy/richmond-counselors/

I provide services on topics such as: Anxiety, Lifestyle and Adjustments to Challenges in Life, Addictions, Anger Management, Stress Reduction, Couples Counseling, Men’s Issues, and Overall Personal Growth.

Teletherapy has been very beneficial for people who have difficulty leaving the home, frequently travel, or have limited mental health resources in their community. Teletherapy has also been beneficial for English speaking people living abroad.

  • 50 minute teletherapy counseling sessions are $120.

  • 50 minute phone call sessions are $120

  • Two written messages per month; Store and Forward: $240

Currently, I am not submitting claims to health insurances. I can give you the proper billing information if you want to submit your own claims. Some health insurance plans will reimburse for teletherapy or counseling by video camera.

The set up for teletherapy is easy and straight forward; I can walk you through step by step.

Billing is completed through Paypal.

Zoom.us is HIPAA compliant software and is an app that can be downloaded for free on your phone, tablet, or computer.

For teletherapy by webcams you will need good internet and you can test your system at http://www.speedtest.net/ and click on the green “Begin Test” button. Your speeds should be:

  • Download – 500kbps/.5mbps or greater,

  • Upload – 500kbps/.5mbps or greater,

  • Ping – 125ms

***Teletherapy is a non-acute service and some topics would be better served with an in-person therapist such as: Suicidal ideation,  homicidal ideation, self-harming behaviors, trauma, psychosis (hallucination, delusions, paranoia), schizophrenia, or severe depression or anxiety.

*Teletherapy or online-counseling might not be appropriate for all people.
